Tony Blackwell began his career in the automobile business as a mechanic at the local Buick dealership. After 14 years of working as a technician he decided to open his own repair shop, and Blackwell Motor Co. opened its doors in 1940.

Tom Blackwell, Tony’s son began working for his father the business in 1948. Both men were fine mechanics and selling cars was just an extension of the service they provided to their customers. Rambler, Hudson, Austin Healey, Massey Ferguson, Crosley, Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep, Eagle, Lincoln, Mercury, Fiat, Toyota, and Kia are the many franchises that the Blackwell Family has had the pleasure of representing.

Today, Torrey Blackwell continues to run the business with the same honesty and integrity that was instilled by his father and grandfather. In 2006 Blackwell Automotive moved to its new facility conveniently located at 4874 Riverside Dr in Danville, VA. Blackwell Automotive has Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Kia franchises and specializes in pre-owned sales.

The Blackwell’s are Christian businessmen and consumer advocates. They have spent their lives fighting the negative stigma that plagues car dealers around the world. They do this by fighting for the consumer as a car dealer that advises people and helps them get the quality vehicle they want and deserve in a positive and safe environment.
